Our Story
WiserGiving's mission is to make smart philanthropy simple.
While many websites help donors select which nonprofit organizations to support,
there are few resources to help people develop thoughtful strategies to guide their
philanthropy decisions. WiserGiving's goal is to help you make better philanthropic
decisions by offering hands-on strategy tools, information, and advice from friends
and experts. By using WiserGiving, your charitable dollars will go further, go to the
right organizations, and make an impact.

WiserGiving launched in June 2012 featuring a unique tool, WiserGiving Style
Quiz℠, which is designed to help you understand your own strategic
approach to philanthropy. This tool was developed with Clohesy Consulting.
We will continue adding strategy tools, apps, and expert-moderated Q&A forums to
give our users an even better social, collaborative, and personal learning experience.
WiserGiving is the vision of Liz Bremner, a seasoned philanthropy executive, and
Karen Crow, an Internet veteran. Witnessing the repeated frustration of Silicon Valley
colleagues who struggled to find relevant philanthropy information online, they designed
a donor-centered site where individuals can get answers to their philanthropy questions
and find tools to help them become more strategic givers.
In the spring of 2010, WiserGiving joined forces with WiserEarth.org, an online
global social justice and environmental network founded in 2007 by New York Times
bestselling author, environmentalist and entrepreneur, Paul Hawken. WiserEarth helps
like-minded people and organizations connect, collaborate and share knowledge, online
and offline. It is the largest community driven directory of nonprofits from around the
world with 112,000 nonprofit partners and 60,000 members.
Our Team
We've attracted a team of leaders in philanthropy, technology and social media.
By harnessing their combined expertise, we leverage the power of the web, the
collaborative spirit of social media, and the know-how of philanthropy to enhance our
members' experience.

WiserGiving Style Quiz™ incorporates decades of experience and knowledge about social
change strategies. By combining this with the power of the internet, the team of Karen Crow,
Stephanie Clohesy, Jill Blair and Liz Bremner, developed a powerful, do-it-yourself quiz that will help
you understand how you solve problems, think about how your current giving aligns with your style
and help put you on the road to creating an effective framework for pursuing the change you want
to see in the world.
The WiserGiving Style Quiz™ was inspired in part by the Women's Funding Network's
planning and evaluation tool, Making the Case, which was developed by a team of consultants
lead by Stephanie Clohesy. Stephanie later reengineered Making the Case to use as donor
strategy tool for her consulting work with high net worth individuals and families.
